Terra’s goals come by the dozen
Nine goals before half-time saw Weymouth Women make a perfect start to their life at the Terras.
Finishing 12-0 winners against Longfleet Lionesses, striker Lily Beasley scored a hat-trick in the first 20 minutes, with Shakira Howard, Lucy Roberts and Tasha Sibley all scoring braces, as well as Charlie Wilson, Katy Wilkinson and Meg Wilkinson getting themselves on the scoresheet.
A relentless start from the Terras saw them overpower their Poole based opponents in the first 20 minutes.
It was Beasley who scored the Terras first goal after just 3 minutes, as a Weymouth Women side took to the pitch for the first time in 6 years.
Wilson then doubled their lead two minutes later with her strike from distance, before Beasley added another after 7 minutes.
Weymouth made it 4-0 before 10 minutes were up as winger Shakira Howard joined in with the scoring, Lucy Roberts then added another via a powerful header in the 12th minute.
Beasley’s hat-trick was completed on 19 minutes with a low powerful drive past the Longfleet defence and goalkeeper.
The former Redland’s striker would have upgraded her hat-trick to a four-goal haul were it not for some stubborn defending from the Lionesses backline and another effort cannoning off the post.
Weymouth’s captain for the day, Sibley made it seven when she headed in from an in-swinging Roberts’s corner.
Robert’s herself then scored arguably the pick of the bunch when her 25-yard free-kick bent around the wall and into the top corner.
Deep-lying midfielder Katy Wilkinson added the ninth shortly before half-time to send Weymouth into the interval 9-0 up.
The Terras picked up from where the left off in the second-half, Howard cooly dispatched a one-on-one shortly after half-time.
Skipper Sibley bagged her second of the game when her unstoppable strike from 25-yards out lobbed the Longfleet goalkeeper and a crowded penalty area.
By now Longfleet had begun to shore up their defence and frustrate Weymouth from adding many more to the tally, but a bursting run from Meg Wilkinson saw her beat two defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
The Terras couldn’t add to their dozen after Wilkinson’s effort, Paige McCarthy went close with a long-range effort sailing just over and Emma Potter came closer when she went on a marauding run from centre-back but also fired over the bar.
