MORALE is still high in Weymouthโs dressing room despite a tough start to life in the Vanarama National League, boss Brian Stock has revealed.
Three games into their first season in non-Leagueโs top flight for 11 years, the Terras are yet to score and have taken just one point from a 0-0 draw at Altrincham.
Stockโs men have since been beaten 1-0 at home by both Woking and Sutton United.
Weymouth achieved back-to-back promotions to reach Englandโs fifth tier and Stock insists confidence is still flowing ahead of tonightโs clash at Barnet (7.45pm).
He said: โThe character is still good in the changing room, the morale is still good.
โWeโve made sure that we concentrate on the positives and there were plenty there (against Sutton).
โOne or two players will be coming back into the fold, come Barnet.
โWe have to go game-by-game. Weโll be doing all our homework, research, clips, everything in our power to try and give the lads the best resources to try and get a result.
โI donโt think anyoneโs going to run away with the league and I think itโs going to be very competitive.โ
Stock also believes Weymouthโs late concession against Sutton allowed the Us to display their โgamecraftโ, earning a number of cheap fouls and slowing play down.
He said: โItโs a frustrating one because quite a lot of those are bought fouls.
โItโs almost a gamecraft where Sutton have got very experienced players at this level, similar to Woking.
โWe had a laugh and a joke on the bench knowing we would probably do the same as players ourselves.
โItโs one of those that when we concede first, thatโs when all that comes into play.
โThatโs the level weโre at. Time-wasting in the corner, playing the referee, fetching a different ball, goalkeeper going down, theyโre all part of the gamecraft Sutton brought.โ
New signing Shamir Mullings and Bournemouth centre-back Corey Jordan will come into the squad for the Hive Stadium clash.
