Simon will be stepping down from his role as Vice Chairman and member of the Board of Directors at the end of August. He made this decision a few months ago, and we have been preparing for his departure since then.
Fortunately, this does not mark the end of Simon’s association with the Football Club, as his support remains unwavering. Simon and his wife, Nessy, plan to travel and enjoy life together.
Throughout his tenure, Simon Etherington, along with GMS, has been a steadfast supporter of this Football Club, not just in its high moments but especially during its lowest. When many others walked away, Simon stepped forward and stood firm.
On a personal note, Simon has been, and will continue to be, an invaluable sounding board, offering advice that has been greatly appreciated. This is not goodbye—Simon will still play a key role in the future, albeit with fewer demands on his time.

I informed you back in June that is was my intention to resign as a Director of WFC. As explained to you, at the age of 68 I have made the decision to de-stress my life, fulfill the promise to my wife to visit all the places in the world still on our bucket list, and enjoy a relaxed, hassle free, retirement.
I agreed with you that I would delay this announcement till all the work that needed doing around the ground had been completed. We have now reached that stage, so please accept this as my formal resignation from the Board of Directors of WFC, with immediate effect.
It was only when I knew that you were to be the new club Chairman, that i agreed to re-join the BOD, together, we inherited a club in crisis, with an eye watering trading loss. Under your leadership, the club has once again financially stabilised, and, although we haven’t seen the best start to a season
on the pitch, off it, the prognosis is good. We have money in the bank, and WFC is once again debt free.
The club is fortunate to have in you, a Chairman that understands football at our level, but is also a successful businessman. Under your stewardship, the club is in safe hands.
My business, GMS, has financially supported the club for over 20 years, and I have left instructions that this support will continue.
Finally, I wish you, your Board, and our playing staff all the best for the future.
A very sincere thanks to our magnificent volunteers, and fans for their personal support in this, my 3rd, and final stint on the Board. Wherever I may be, I will always look out for the ‘Muff’ results.
When travelling permits, I will be in my usual spot on the terraces supporting the club I have grown to love.
