Brain Stock said Weymouth “just come up short” after the Terras conceded twice in the second-half at the Racecourse Ground to promotion-chasing Wrexham.
Weymouth had looked comfortable holding Wrexham until the 65th when Theo Vassell scored the opener for the Welsh side, Pontecelli added a second as the Terras pushed for an equaliser.
“I felt at 0-0, especially at half-time, that we were quite comfortable,” said Stock.
“I hadn’t realised how much of a direct side Wrexham were but we dealt with that very well.
“At 0-0 into the second-half, fixing a couple of things at half-time I felt that we would have gone on and got a result.
“I’m disappointed in the second-half and when you look at one or two things we concentrated during the week and had made the players aware of, we’ve just come up short in terms of conceding two goals that we felt we could’ve done something about.”
Wrexham’s first goal came from a corner as Vassell bundled a header in, the Weymouth manager however would not be drawn into commenting on whether there was a foul in the build-up as Ethan Ross appeared to be blocked and Jacob Mensah knocked to the floor.
“I’ll have to see that back, in fairness to Wrexham they have plenty of height in the team and they’ve got a good delivery,” continued Stock.
“When there’s bodies in the box they can certainly collide and there possibly could have been a foul, but I’ll have to look at it back and make my own judgement on that.”
Wrexham have recently completed a well-publicised takeover by Hollywood actors Rob McElenney and Ryan Reynolds, who are both looking to return the Red Dragons to the Football League.
Stock emphasised how far he felt the club has come that he felt disappointed not to come away with anything.
“We’ve come away to Wrexham, who are fourth in the league and have aspirations to go into the Football League,” added Stock. “They’ve had a big takeover and are a huge club, and we’re there at 90 minutes disappointed that we’ve not come away with a result.
“That comes a long way compared to where we were at the start of the season, now this group has managed to consistently perform and we’ve come up just short.
“We’ve missed one or two chances and if they go in then it’s a different game, we all know that goals change games and I think that happened (at Wrexham).”
