ELATED player-manager Jason Matthews believed Weymouth’s performance against Chippenham Town was “100 times” better than their weekend defeat to Biggleswade.
The Terras more than played their part in a pulsating 1-1 draw at Hardenhuish Park last night with Mark Cooper’s second-half goal cancelled out by Chippenham’s Oli Taylor.
Matthews told Echosport: “I thought the game was a perfect advert for the Southern League and a magnificent performance from us.
“It really restored my faith in what I have brought to the club.
“We could have won it and Chippenham came strong at the end. They could have won it as well.
“Dean Evans and Ben Thomson stood out yet again and I think they have been our players of the season so far. Mark Cooper had another good game and scored a good goal.
“I thought that there were a number of standout performances but on the whole it was an all-round team performance.
“A point was probably a fair result.”
Quizzed on how much better this display was than his side’s home loss on Saturday, Matthews said: “100 times better.
“I would like us to be able to take our away performances into our home games and people will be able to see what we are doing.
“The away support was absolutely fantastic again last night.”
