TERRAS’ assistant-manager Tim Sills believed it was a “no-brainer” to bring Shane Krac into the Weymouth squad at Poole Town last night, despite the fact Krac saw red on his return.
The no-nonsense midfielder was a surprise name on the Weymouth teamsheet ahead of the encounter, having signed on a dual registration before the Dorset derby.
He was given his second yellow card for a rash challenge on Steve Devlin on the hour mark at Tatnam, and from there the Terras went on to lose 2-0.
Speaking about Krac’s inclusion for the contest, in which both sides were left in the dark for around 40 minutes due to floodlight failure, Sills told Echosport: “We know what he has got and he has been playing fairly locally to where he is.
“With missing Dean (Evans) for the last couple of games, it just showed us that maybe we missed that little bit of bite and that was the thinking behind it.
“He has got a lot of quality on the ball so it was a no-brainer to bring him in. It was gutting that it didn’t go for him last night.
“I wouldn’t have changed the decision at all because even last season he was someone we came to rely on and it was disappointing for us when he left. It wasn’t a gamble for us, it is a player we know and respect.
“Unfortunately it just edged the other way for him and that happened on his first game back for us as well. We were keen to get him involved and he was bang up for it. He was extremely disappointed after.”
Sills also revealed it was still up in the air as to whether Krac would be a permanent fixture back in the Terras’ ranks.

On the game itself, which resulted in Weymouth slipping 10 points behind leaders Poole, Sills added: “Jase (Matthews, manager) said he was happy with the effort levels, the commitment, and everything like that, but it all changed on the red card unfortunately.
“Up until that point I thought we were very comfortable and then after that the momentum swung and we couldn’t get it back.”
