JASON Matthews has labelled tomorrow’s home tussle with Redditch United (3pm) as “probably one of my biggest games since being in charge”.
The Terras’ chief has seen his side slip to 11th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division this week, seven points adrift of the play-off spots.
In contrast, visitors Redditch have been in hot form winning four games in a row before their goalless stalemate with league leaders Poole Town on Tuesday evening.
Matthews, who also indicated playmaker Chris Shephard could miss out again this weekend with a back injury, told Echosport: “Redditch are one of the form teams in the league. If they win their game in hand they go level with Poole.
“It’s a big test for us and, if we get a win against them, then the next three games are winnable and it’s game on.
“For me, it’s probably one of my biggest games since being in charge.
“We need to win on Saturday. It’s not going to define our season but the games are starting to run out now and we need to start winning our home games.
“As a team, the players as a whole have done well. We fell a little bit short in the last few weeks but I know the lads are hungry and they want to turn it around as much as I do.
“When we do play well at home and the fans get behind us it’s a different ball game.”
Reflecting on Tuesday night’s 5-1 Dorset Senior Cup semi-final victory over Dorchester Town, Matthews added: “The game came at the right time for us and probably at the wrong time for Dorchester.
“But it’s a cup final for me on Saturday against Redditch.
“If we win it sets a marker down.”
