TERRAS’ chief Jason Matthews admitted he was impressed by the performance of Luke Winsper during his side’s midweek Dorset Senior Cup triumph over Dorchester Town.
The Weymouth midfielder, whose season was kyboshed last term by a trapped nerve in his foot which caused him to go under the knife, has been getting game time at Sherborne Town this season and scored for the Zebras against Barnstaple Town in a league fixture last weekend.
Assessing Winsper’s midweek display back in a Weymouth shirt, Matthews told Echosport: “I thought Luke Winsper, in his first game for us in a number of months, was superb.
“The situation with Luke is we want him to play games at a reasonable level.
“Until I am going to use him a lot I am reluctant to bring him back.
“Luke knows this and I have spoken to him about it. He still has a big part to play and I rate him highly.”
Matthews, whose side host Redditch United at the Bob Lucas Stadium this afternoon (3pm), added: “It’s just a case of bringing him (Winsper) back in at the right time and not just having him there as an unused sub.
“Over the next week or two I think he will be playing at Sherborne. With any luck we will be bringing him back into the fold in the next couple of weeks.”
