MARK Molesley has signed an extended deal with Weymouth as the Terras moved closer to securing an Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division play-off spot after defeating Gosport Borough 5-0.
The development, which will see him stay for the next season, also sees now former assistant-manager Paul Maitland become a director of football, while Tom Prodomo steps up to assistant-manager having been an ever-present on the sidelines this season.
Weymouth announced the news at their fans’ forum, held at the Bob Lucas Stadium after the win over Gosport.
WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has signed a contract extension that will see him stay at the Bob Lucas Stadium until the end of next season.
The move also sees former head coach Tom Prodomo become assistant-manager while former number two Paul Maitland has become director of football.
Molesley said: “I am delighted, so far it has gone OK, we have not done anything yet, we will keep striving to take this club forward. I was keen to get in and improve myself.
The contract extension also covers Molesley’s management team, and the Weymouth boss, speaking at the Terras’ fans’ forum, said his staff were “one big family.”
He said: “I have really enjoyed my time here, it is a great club with huge potential. We have all worked really hard.
“Nothing has changed since the day I walked through the door and I promised them that we would work hard every day to try and make this football club a better place and leave it in place than where we found it.
“It is not just me signing the contract, it is my staff. We are all one big family, we all stick together.”
When asked when he was first approached about the contract extension Molesley said: “I think when Ian came in he was keen to do something as was Millsy (Steve Mills) before, they were great.
“I have got to thank Pete Saxby, Millsy and Paul. They gave me the chance when not a lot of other people wanted to give me the chance.
“I will always be truly thankful to them.
“You never know what is round the corner, but I would like to think that anything I said that I was going to do I have backed up and done.”
