WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley was full of praise for his defence as they passed the 370-minute mark since they last conceded a goal thanks to the 5-0 thrashing of Gosport.
Molesley’s men never looked in danger of conceding after a confident display against Gosport, which was their fourth consecutive clean sheet and longest run without conceding in the league this season.
The last goal the Terras conceded was the 78th minute consolation, via an unfortunate Will Dennis own goal, for Biggleswade back on March 10.
After the Gosport game, Molesley said: “We have got five goals and another clean sheet.
“We have not given up too many goals since Thiago Caze Da Silva has come in at centre-half, him and Zubes (Stephane Zubar), I think that is quite a formidable partnership, with Ash (Ashley Wells) sometimes in behind them at full-back and Buckers (Callum Buckley) has probably been one of our most consistent players this season.
“I think it is credit to the defence, they probably made it look easier than it was and I think that is the sign of a good defence. I thought their movement, their cover for each other was good.
“They talk well and they are very aggressive, it is a really aggressive defence that we have got here now.
“If I was a striker I would not like playing against them.”
The Terras signed Caze Da Silva prior to the Terras’ last defeat, a 2-0 loss at Hereford as he made a late substitute appearance, but has started every game since as Weymouth have scored 16 goals and conceded just once with five consecutive wins.
Molesley said: “We nullified Gosport’s threat and that is all you can do. They did not give them too much of a sniff and like I said these are difficult games.
“We are looking strong defensively which is good. We just need to keep our foot on the pedal now. Keep the confidence and momentum flowing and keep fine tuning everything.”
