WEYMOUTH assistant-manager Tom Prodomo admits he cannot deny the confidence that is in the Terras’ squad ahead of their clash at Farnborough in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South tomorrow (3pm).
The Terras recorded back-to-back 5-0 wins at Chesham United and at home to Dorchester Town over the bank holiday weekend.
Prodomo said: “You cannot deny the confidence that is in the group at the moment.
“Ten goals across the bank holiday and importantly two clean sheets and, particularly with the home support we got on Monday, there is a really good feeling in the camp.
“Again we will use that good energy within the group and make sure that we are ready for Farnborough tomorrow.”
When asked if the Terras are worried about getting carried away, Prodomo immediately said that they are not, and praised the players for their attitude.
Prodomo said: “Absolutely not. First and foremost they are a group of players that always demand more from themselves individually and each other as team-mates.
“We have got a group of staff that are constantly looking to improve our players and get better so it is the way we work and I don’t see that changing off the back of the weekend.”
Weymouth fans will fondly remember the matches against Farnborough last season, which saw the Terras put six goals past them in both of their encounters, winning 6-2 away and 6-0 at the Bob Lucas Stadium
The Terras have a clean bill of health ahead of the match, as Jordan Ngalo made his return to the squad following injury, coming off the bench against Dorchester Town.
Reflecting upon the encounters with Farnborough, Prodomo said: “We had a really good performance there and at home last year but they have made quite a lot of changes to their squad and they have had some good results at the start of the season.”
“So as we do with all opponents we will show them the respect that they deserve and look to impose ourselves on the game.”
The Terras currently sit at the top of the table having gone unbeaten so far in the league this season, while Farnborough have two wins from four matches and sit 11th in the table.
Prodomo admits it is getting hard to pick the team at the moment with Weymouth’s performances, which have seen them drop points just once, in a 1-1 draw at home to Beaconsfield Town.
Prodomo said: “It is a very competitive group and it is getting harder and harder to pick a team. Nobody is letting themselves in training or in games so even at this early stage of the season it is a really good place to be. We have got a really good competitive group that are pushing each other hard.”
