MARK Molesley is glad for the opportunity to give players minutes as his side prepare for back-to-back matches against Wimborne Town starting this evening in the first round of the Southern League Challenge Cup (7.45).
Weymouth then host the Magpies at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (3pm) in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South to complete the quickfire double header.
Speaking after Saturday’s 4-1 win away at Staines Town, Molesley said: “The boys love playing games so we are excited to get back and playing.
“We will just have to see how the boys feel after this game and see how best to approach tonight’s match and just make sure that we are up to speed and fully running for the Saturday game.
“The game comes at a good time. Some players will get some much needed minutes.
“We will reflect on this see how everyone reports and see how we are going to attack this week.”
The Terras have Callum Buckley and Josh McQuoid (knee) out injured currently, although Josh Carmichael missed the win at Staines with a tweaked back.
McQuoid has a long-term injury with Molesley admitting it is going to be months before he is back.
Molesley said: “We are hoping Buckers (Callum Buckley) is going to be weeks rather than months so hopefully he will be back in the not distant future.
“Unfortunately Josh McQuoid is looking like it is going to be months rather than weeks so that is unfortunate from that point of view that probably our marquee signing of the summer unfortunately is injured.”
Molesley admitted that the signing of Calvin Brooks helps soften the blow, with Brooks rejoining Weymouth on Thursday.
Referring to McQuoid, Molesley said: “We hope we get him back but for the foreseeable future we will be without him so Calvin certainly helps soften that blow but we will just have to roll with the punches and continue to get better.”
Tiago Sa returns to the Terras squad after a month on loan at Dorchester Town.
Sa played in all four games was eligible for, his last coming in a 3-0 loss to Hendon.
