WEYMOUTH are in a good place says manager Mark Molesley as they prepare to travel to Basingstoke Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South tomorrow (3pm).

The same fixture last season produced a blockbuster 3-3 draw, with Brandon Goodship rescuing a draw at the death for the Terras.

Molesley said: “We have had a clear week of training to prepare for the game.

“We are in a good place at the moment, the games cannot come quick enough.

Looking back on their two league matches with Basingstoke last season, which also saw Weymouth edge past the Dragons in a 3-2 win at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Molesley reflected: “Both games were eventful, high scoring in both games. There is a lot of attacking talent on display in both teams.

“It is probably one of the more difficult places to go to, they have got a good home record. So it is shaping up to be an entertaining, good game and one that we are looking forward to.”

Molesley is wary of the Dragons’ home record, which has seen them lose just twice at home in the league all season.

This contrasts with the Terras however, who have tasted just one league defeat all season, a 4-3 loss away at Farnborough.

Molesley said: “They are one of the highest scoring teams, one of the better home records over the last season and a bit, they do not give too much away at home.

“It is a tough place to go. We enjoy the challenge and we are ready for it.”

Weymouth have had no midweek fixture, and come into this match off the back of a great 3-1 win at Taunton Town in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.

Josh Wakefield and Ashley Wells will be assessed as both picked up knocks during the Taunton victory, which saw Callum Buckley make his first start since recovering from an injury.

Commenting on the injuries, Molesley said: “That is the nature of football, it is an unforgiving league. Unfortunately you do pick up knocks and injuries, we have not had the best luck with injuries this season.

“Every player is equally important, we have had to use our squad and stretch it to the maximum.”
