JOSH McQuoid says he does not think anyone has seen the best of him at Weymouth, as he looks ahead to the National League South after he extended his stay at the Terras.
The striker joined the club towards the end of pre-season last year, but saw much of the previous campaign hampered by a knee injury.
He said: “I don’t think anyone has seen the best of me down at Weymouth, I was just starting to get into my stride before I got injured so for me I am just looking forward to staying fit, getting going and showing what I am about.
“I am delighted to be staying.”
Discussing the knee injury, McQuoid says he has never had an injury of that severity before.
He said: “I have never really had anything as serious as that that has kept me out that long, so I am just chomping at the bit to get back, I can’t wait to get back for pre-season.”
McQuoid says he does not feel he played ‘a massive part’ but said it was a great feeling to achieve promotion to the National League South.
He said: “Getting promoted was a great feeling. Especially for everyone around the club. I did not really play as much as I wanted to, I did not play a massive part, but the lads have done really well but now we are back up the leagues again into the National League South it should be a good test.
“It is a better standard which will suit us definitely.
“Fitness wise I am feeling fit, so just get back in pre-season and get even fitter so the main aim for me is just stay fit, get some game time in pre-season and then hit the ground running when the season starts and do as well as we can to push up that league.”
McQuoid is glad that so many players have stayed at the Terras from the squad last season, and says that all of them deserve a chance to play in the higher league.
He said: “There is a good standard of players already in the squad, so it is good to see everyone staying loyal and hopefully again we can achieve something with the same group of lads. I think everyone deserves a chance to play in that league. They have done brilliantly for the club and the manager is sticking by them which is always nice to see.”
