WEYMOUTH striker Williams admits it is going to be “a weird one” as he prepares to be managed by former teammate Mark Molesley.
The ex-Sutton man spoke glowingly of Molesley, discussing their close friendship during his first interview with Echosport since signing for the Terras.
He said: “It is going to be a weird one for him being my manager and maybe the gaffer word, I am excited.
“I know what he is all about, he used to hammer me on the pitch when we were at Aldershot now and then but he is my best mate off it so I think it will be a similar thing, when we are in the dressing room when there is football. That is what it is going to be all about.
“I’m not one to take anything off the pitch if its bad or good, when you are off the pitch it is completely different. We have got a good relationship there, I think we are going to do well this year. Like I said I am happy to get going really.”
Williams revealed the two used to drive together to Aldershot’s matches, with Molesley based in Bournemouth and Williams in Southampton.
He added: “We have always stayed very close, we were in the car school together for Aldershot, he would meet me halfway and we would drive up together.
“We have been close ever since, we speak to each other on WhatsApp if not every day. We have just been close ever since, he is Bournemouth, I’m Southampton.”
Williams is happy to be a part of the Terras now, and pointed to them being a club really trying to progress.
When asked if he is excited for the challenge ahead, he replied: “Definitely, it is always good to come to a new club which you know they are going to be in high spirits from last year and they are trying to move forward, so I am grateful to be part of it.”
