ADEOYE Olumuyiwa insisted he is “ready for the task” after signing from Blackfield and Langley.

The defender, who moves up a further division after gaining promotion to the seventh tier with the Hampshire side last season, is Weymouth 16th summer signing.

Olumuyiwa joins Calvin Brooks, Cameron Murray, Ben Thomson, Jordan Ngalo, Stephane Zubar, captain Jake McCarthy, Josh Wakefield, Ashley Wells, Josh McQuoid, Mark Childs, Callum Buckley, Ollie Harfield, Abdulai Baggie, Yemi Odubade and Brett Williams in having penned deals.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “First of all I would like to thank god for the opportunity to be here, to play for Weymouth Football Club and yes it is a couple of steps up but I feel like I am ready for the task.

“I am thankful for Weymouth choosing me and allowing me to be part of the future and the team.”

The defender spoke of his excitement after first hearing of interest from Weymouth and felt it was a compliment.

Olumuyiwa said: “I was buzzing, it is a compliment to me and how I have improved in the last year, and I was very, very excited that they were interested in me.”

After his initial communication with Molesley Olumuyiwa praised the club for the direction they want to go in and is very satisfied with it.

Olumuyiwa, when asked what was it like speaking to Molesley for the first time, replied: “I have had a couple of texts, a couple of messages with Molesley, speaking to him on the phone and he seems like he wants the club to go in the right direction.

“It is the same as the backroom staff so I am very very happy with that.”

The Terras now face the challenge of the new division of the National league South, but Olumuyiwa knows that the team have faith in themselves.

Olumuyiwa added: “I am buzzing to play in the league, loads of big teams, loads of big clubs in the league, but we back ourselves, that is why I am here, everyone has got the same ambition and that is to get the football club to where it belongs.”

Olumuyiwa also thanked his old Blackfield & Langley boss Glenn Howes.

He said: “The manager at Blackfield and Langley I am very, very thankful to them because they back my playing ability.

“I made mistakes but they always told me to play for which I am very, very grateful.

“They gave me confidence to develop me as a player. I am very, very confident coming into the team. I just want to show the fans of the club what I have got to offer.”
