MARK Molesley says he is hoping his side looks fitter and sharper as they prepare to face former league rivals Poole Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

The Terras have not played an open friendly since July 12, but despite the gap in matches Weymouth were in action on Saturday, in a behind closed doors match against the AFC Bournemouth under-21s.

When asked what he is looking for from the match, Molesley told Echosport: “As pre-season progresses we are hoping to look a little bit fitter, a little bit sharper and then start to see our way of playing come out and see that more prominently.”

Poole is the second last pre-season game for the Terras, before a home game against Gosport – both teams Weymouth faced at least twice last season.

Discussing the final two games, Molesley said: “I think they are going to give us a real good workout. I think Poole have strengthened really well this year.

“I am sure they are going to be competing, like they were last year, to get promoted again. I am sure they are going to be right up there, so they are obviously one of the stronger teams in the league we were in.

“I think Gosport, with what they have done as well, they are going to be really strong next year as well.

“So I think they are going to be similar opposition to what we are going to face in the National League South, so two tough games to end on but two games that I think are going to be close to what we are going to be facing in the league above.”
