Saturday brings one of the most nostalgic and famous fixtures in the National League South’s history. The top two of the 2005/06 season go head to head in a crucial clash.

These two teams met in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy last season with a 1-1 draw at The Bob Lucas Stadium and then the Terras prevailing in the replay 0-2. Last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Welling was Weymouth’s first in 5 and propelled them back into the playoffs with 16 points from the first 10 games.

Meanwhile, for St Albans, they sit 16th after the first 10 games. They currently have 10 points with 2 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses. The home record for St Albans stands at Played 5, Won 1, Drawn 2 and Lost 2. The one win coming against Concord Rangers on 26th August. Weymouth’s away record stands at Played 5, Won 1, Drawn 3 and Lost 1. The one win coming on the opening day away to Maidstone.

Saturday has all the prospect of another classic encounter between 2 famous clubs at the national league south level and is sure to be a close match between 2 good footballing sides.

Thoughts from the gaffer, Mark Molesley

“We take each game in isolation, whether it’s home or away. We will go to win every game of football we play in, that’s always been our way and for us to make our home form as strong as we can.”
