Match Preview

It’s a second consecutive away trip for the Terras; this time it’s a journey to Essex to take on 11th place Billericay Town.

This game comes around after Weymouth’s re-arranged midweek fixture at Eastbourne. As you will know by now, the Terras took a point back to Dorset on what was a tricky night in East Sussex. The journey up to the game wasn’t pleasant due to traffic chaos and everything seemed to transpire against Weymouth on the night, however Jake McCarthy stood up when it mattered and banged in his fifth goal in four games to give his team a crucial away point – making it now eight unbeaten in the league for Mark Molesley’s team.

Our hosts have announced some difficulties off the pitch in recent times with previous owner Glenn Tamplin seemingly leaving the club. Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara took on the managerial duties at the Essex club after Harry Wheeler was dismissed from his post earlier in the season. In truth, their results have been a bit hit and miss. Their most notable result has to be a 4-2 success against Sutton United in the FA Cup, therefore putting themselves in the First Round of the competition.

The Terras sit third and continue to pick up results. AFC Bournemouth loanee Brennan Camp has won two consecutive man of the match awards after impressing the Terras faithful in a 3-0 win over Braintree, as well as the 1-1 draw over at Eastbourne. Weymouth will be hoping that their run can continue at New Lodge. Their last trip to this ground came in 2014 where a Stewart Yetton goal secured a 1-0 win for Weymouth in the FA Cup.

Thoughts from the Manager

Billericay are much fancied this year and have some fantastic players and it’s another game we should be looking forward to. This is why we worked so hard to get into the league for these games. We’re in and around the higher reaches of the table and so are they, so it promises to be a great game, one we’re looking forward to and hopefully one that we’ll enjoy.”
