Statement from WFC

Dear all,

In these difficult times, it is only natural that many of you must be concerned about the financial state of the club and its ability to weather this unprecedented storm.

I would like to re-assure you all that because of the prudent steps Ian and his board of directors have taken over the past few seasons we remain in a healthy financial position. The Board made a promise to the fans that the club would operate within its means and that has been the case. The players were paid yesterday and will continue to be paid until a decision is made by the National League on how this season will be concluded. Weymouth FC would also like to place on record our thanks to the Management team who have declined to be paid until the situation is over.

However, no income into the club will obviously reduce the reserves we have built up and I have seen on the forum that many of you are keen to donate in whatever way you can to limit the impact this shutdown will have on our bank balance. We regard this as a brilliant fans gesture and would welcome any suggestions you may have. Over the next few days, we will give you guidance on some of our own ideas to keep the revenue streams coming into the club. It would be sensible to channel these streams through the Wessex Fantasy Football set up, the details of which we give to you shortly.

These are difficult times for everyone, but this club has over the past few years built a very sound base to move forward on with a fantastic manager and management team and an exciting playing squad. We are all determined to keep that momentum going. Every little that anyone does will help, so feel free to get involved and lets all weather this storm together. Hopefully, it will not be too long before the referee can once again be the focus of our attention and not COVID-19.

Stay healthy and stay safe.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

Simon Etherington

Finance Director WFC
