Weymouth Football Club continued their partnership with Chickerell Primary Academy during the lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

There have been successes in the school quiz and drawing competition in particular. Pupils from different schools across the area have been keeping busy by getting involved and some children have won prizes including mascot packages at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Chickerell Primary Academy Teacher Wendy Simmonds has been delighted with the interaction between the club and the school. She said, “It’s fantastic that during these difficult times, Weymouth Football Club have still supported the local community and the children. By devising these quizzes times, they have continued to engage our pupils and kept the support for the club going. Well done to all and thank you. Our pupils have loved taking part!”

Teaching Assistant and Terras fan Roberto Pask said, “The work that Weymouth are endeavouring to do with the local youth is superb. If anything, they have stepped up their efforts during the current situation, showing how a proper community club works. It makes me proud to be a Weymouth fan.”

Weymouth FC Director Josh Barton commented, “It has been fantastic to see how many of the pupils have participated from across the primary schools in and around the town. This further strengthens the links between the Football Club and the community which is something that is very important to us.”
