The Terras continued their preparation for the Vanarama National League with a 4-0 win against local rivals Poole Town in a behind closed doors fixture at the Bob Lucas on Saturday. The game marked a first start for England U19 international Jack Bycroft.

The home side started the quicker. Andreas Robinson had the first real chance with a free kick just outside the area, following a foul on Jordan Ngalo. The effort was just over the bar.

Ngalo had the next chance. His dazzling footwork had allowed him space in the area, however his shot was just right of the goal.
After the first half drinks break, Weymouth looked comfortable in possession, pressing at every opportunity.

The deadlock was broken after 27 minutes when Ben Thomson was fouled in the Poole Penalty area. Josh McQuoid stepped up to the spot, and despite the goalkeeper guessing the right way, the captain had slotted it to his right.

Soon after Rowe found space for Poole, and unleashed a shot just outside the box. The effort was blazed over the goal.

Some nice interplay between Calvin Brooks and Brennan Camp on the right side led to the latter finding the ball in the box. Despite moving through three Poole defenders, his cutback was inches from finding Ngalo before being cleared away.

The home side looked strongest going into the break with Josh Wakefield’s 43rd minute free kick. The effort had looped over a four man wall and was heading goal bound had Poole’s goalkeeper, Childs, not reached for it

Brian Stock had altered the Terras lineup in the second half with; Whelan, Leslie-Smith, Hoey and Santos replacing Ngalo, Zubar, Thomson and Calvin Brooks.

The second half saw both teams fight for control. The first decent effort fell to Camp in the 62nd minute, as Alefe Santos poked the ball through to the full back, following an overlapping run. The shot was forced at a tight angle towards the near post with Childs managing to save it between his legs.

Santos had the next chance, however the winger had scuffed his shot, the ball drifted wide of the post.

Poole Town managed their first shot on target around the 65th minute, with their number 9, Lee, making a comfortable save in the middle of debutant Bycroft’s goal.

Weymouth doubled their lead soon after this. The counter attack from the shot saw Santos cut the ball across the box. Childs came to recover but had palmed it in the way of Robinson, who fired it into the net. This was to be his last involvement, coming off for Burns.

Seven minutes from time the Terras made it three. Santos provided another ball from the right, threading it into Jack Hoey, who found himself one on one. The substitute cooly slotted it past Childs.

In the 86th minute Tom Whelan made it four. The midfielder was in space 25 yards away from the goal and struck with his right foot through a crowd to go beyond the goalkeepers right.

The final score was 4-0 to the Terras.
