Weymouth FC fall to 22nd in National League after another defeat

WEYMOUTH 2

DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 3

Report: Alfie Lumb

WEYMOUTH suffered yet another defeat at home, losing 3-2 to Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday evening.

Weymouth started well, and took an early lead in the 14th minute. Sean Shields turned his man on the left wing several times and played a deep ball into the box. Elliot Justham fumbled the ball which led Andy Robinson to fizz the ball across the face of the goal for Josh McQuoid to tap it in to get his second goal in as many games.

The Daggers were back into the game on the 26th minute after Mitch Brundle curled the ball in following a well worked corner, played to him by Abu Agogo.

The Terras conceded another just one minute later. Will Wright’s cross from the right wing was met at the back post by Paul McCallum. The Daggers’ number 9 tapped in the goal to take the lead.

Weymouth’s frustration was shown, as Josh Wakefield was shown a straight red card just before half time, for a two footed challenge on Darren McQueen.

Dagenham and Redbridge were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute when Abu Agogo was brought down in the area. Mitch Brundle stepped up and sent Bycroft the wrong way, grabbing his brace.

Jake McCarthy snatched a goal back in the 83rd minute. The substitute headed from a corner, whipped in by Sean Shields.

Six minutes of added time were not enough for the Terras to find an equaliser, as they fall to 22nd place in the Vanarama National League.
