Its back to the Bob Lucas Stadium for the Terras this weekend as they face Notts County in the National League.

Weymouth are coming into the game in good form, having beaten Aldershot away from home 2-0 on Tuesday. This was their second win and clean sheet in a row.

Brian Stock is without any injury concerns from the Shots game going into this game.

Saturdays opponents, Notts County, are recognised as the oldest professional football club in the world. The side was founded in 1852, one year prior to the Football Associations formation in 1853. The side were relegated to the fifth tier for the first time in their history back in 2019, and nearly yo-yo’d back up to League 2 last season, had they not lost 3-1 to underdogs Harrogate Town in the playoff final.

This season the Magpies sit in 7th, and won their last game against Solihull Moors 2-0, before that, the side drew 0-0 with table topping Torquay so will prove a big test for the Terras in the form that they are in.

Leading the line for the visitors is Kyle Wootton. The striker, on loan to the Magpies last season, signed permanently from Scunthorpe in the summer and has so far netted 6 times in all competitions.

Playing at left back is former Bradford City left back and Zimbabwean international Adam Chicksen.

County are captained by former Leeds United and Sheffield United man Michael Doyle. The midfielder played over 180 games for the latter.

With Notts County chasing promotion, and Weymouth gaining confidence, it should set up an interesting tie between the two sides.

Thoughts from the Manager

Speaking to EchoSport earlier in the week Stock emphasised the history of Saturdays opponents saying “They’re a huge club. They’ve got a lot of structure, a big budget and a lovely ground.“

When quizzed on how his side will perform after the success in recent games the gaffer said “We’ve got a lot of confidence behind us after the last two victories, so it should be a good game.”
