The Terras are back at the Bob Lucas Stadium this Saturday as they take on Stockport County.
Since their last home game, Weymouth lost to bitter rivals Yeovil before taking part in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Kings Lynn Town last Saturday.
Stockport’s recent form has seen the side pick up 6 points in their last 5 games, recently running out 2-0 winners against Chesterfield FC. Jennings and Reid scored goals in the second half to secure the win. Reid is Stockport’s joint-leading top scorer this season with 11 goals. The other striker that levels with Reid is John Rooney, younger brother of former England International and Derby Manager Wayne Rooney.
The sides played the reverse fixture last Halloween, and the Terras caused the high-flying side a scare, beating them 2-1. Brooks and Whelan were on the scoresheet for the Terras, with the latter providing the 85th minute winner last time out.
This was the sides second ever meeting, playing each other in a pre-season game in July 1989 at the Wessex Stadium, as it was known then. The visitors ran out 1-0 winners back then.
Beating Stockport was a big statement for Brian Stock and his side back in October. The underdog story is an opportunity for this weekends opponents to right the result. The Terras will be confident, with a plethora of players available for the game.
Thoughts from the manager
When speaking to EchoSport earlier this week Stock was confident that his side will get a result saying “it would be nice to get the opportunity to get the double over a side who I regard as a very big club in this division.”
