The Terras picked apart Wealdstone FC, beating the Stones 4-0 at the Bob Lucas on Saturday Afternoon.

Brian Stock made 2 changes for the clash today, bringing Sean Shields and Calvin Brooks in for Fonkeu and Luque. The former two have recovered from injury after they missed the 1-1 draw against Dagenham and Redbridge.

The Terras had the first shot in the game. Shields and Josh McQuoid were Linking up well on the counter attack after being smothered by Wealdstone pressure. The winger played the ball to the Terras Captain who cut in from the left wing to gain grounds inside the opposition area. McQuoid laid the ball off to Shields, but his shot with his right boot took a deflection, going out for a corner.
Harfield delivered the corner which was headed narrowly wide of Harry Isted’s right post.

The Stones were next to fashion a chance in the 13th minute. A set piece whipped in by Daniel Green was met by a diving header at the back post by Riley-Jay Harbottle. The defender ran into the area unmarked but could not direct the header goal bound, instead the Terras cleared away danger and conceded a corner.

6 minutes later the Terras came close again. McQuoid and Shields were stringing passes together around the area. The Terras Captain played Shields in. The winger turned from his right to get a shot away with his left against the byline. Shields shot looked destined to go in but Jack Cawley played the ball off of the line. The ball came off of Andy Dallas and again needed to be cleared off the line, this time by the gloves of Isted.

Weymouth took the lead in the 21st minute. Dallas run down the left wing allowed the striker space to play the ball into an oncoming Shields into the area. The winger danced his way around challenges to cross the ball from touch line across the face of goal. McQuoid was in space and unchallenged as he made the header. McQuoid directed the ball downward with little Isted could do.

The Terras came close to doubling the lead in the 24th minute. Dominic Revan brushed off tackles in his own half to stride into opposition territory. The on loan Aston Villa defender strided down the right side before crossing the ball into Dallas. Dallas struck the ball on the volley but the ball went over.

The game was end-to-end and Wealdstone were in less than a minute later Jacob Mendy threaded a ball to Dennon Lewis. The number 11 was through on goal and angled his body to attempt a curving shot with his right foot. Revan came back to put a foot in and block the shot. A last ditch tackle!

Weymouth were looking confident in the game and had another chance in the 35th minute. Shields played the ball to McQuoid. The goalscorer went past the challenge of 2 Wealdstone defenders and shot from outside the area with his right boot. The shot was dragged wide and right of Isted’s goal.

The away side were looking frustrated, attempting 2 shots from range within the space of a minute as they were struggling to break the defence of the Terras down.

Weymouth were pressing for a second as the game got underway for the second half. Harfield whipped a corner into the near post. McCarthy made connection with the ball which was safely into the hands of a diving Isted.

The Terras doubled their lead in the 58th minute. Good passing play centred around Shields gave the winger space to whip a ball into the box which was not cleared. The ball looped over to Brennan Camp at the back post who met the shot with a volley, sending the ball past a helpless Isted.

Wealdstone came close to getting a foot back into the game in the 71st minute. Daniel Green’s corner was headed on by Harbottle in a busy area. Ross came across well to claim the ball and deny any opportunity for a follow up.

8 minutes later the Stones managed another shot on target. Substitute Daniel Parish flicked the ball on from a cross but again Ross got down to his right side to collect the effort.

Despite the pressure, the Terras went 3 ahead in the 82nd minute. Josh McQuoid threaded a pass through to Shields as the Terras had an advantage in numbers in the counter attack. Shields carried the ball into the box and slotted his shot across the face of goal past Isted.

1 minute later Shields bagged his brace. McQuoid was through on goal. Isted came out to make a needed save against the Captain but the ball came back into the attackers path on the byline. He managed to cross the ball back in which was cleared off the line by Harbottle. The clearance only came as far as Shields whose ingenuity saw the winger volley in the effort acrobatically to an open goal.

It was nearly 5 for the Terras moments later as Harfields effort from a tight angle was blocked. Shields, on a hat trick attempted to Volley the ball as it fell to him but it went wide of Isted’s left post.

4 minutes of added time saw the Terras close again as Camp’s shot across goal was whiskers wide of the right post. The Terras saw the remainder of the game out professionally to claim 3 points and a clean sheet. Weymouth are now 2 points off Wealdstone in 19th.
