Match Preview: Chesterfield v Weymouth – Saturday 13th November 2021 – 15:00
After a week’s break, Weymouth are back in Vanarama National League action as they face a trip to the Technique Stadium against Chesterfield this Saturday afternoon.
THE TERRAS
Brian Stock’s side come into Saturday off the back of three unbeaten in the league including back-to-back victories and clean sheets against Aldershot Town and King’s Lynn Town. Looking ahead to Chesterfield, there will be optimism that the team can use the week’s rest and the recent league form to challenge the Spireites this weekend, in what is expected to be a challenging fixture for the Terras.
Brian Stock ahead of the game: “The players have worked extremely hard but it’s important, after a week off, that we don’t take our eye off the ball. It’s a tough league and Chesterfield will be a tough test, we need to make sure that we are ready for that.”
Our new signing this week, Tom Blair, could make his first appearance for the club this weekend, providing that paperwork and other regulatory processes have been finalised and completed, according to Stock who spoke to us Friday following the announcement of Tom’s signing. Brian Stock added: “If he makes it then great, if he doesn’t make it on Saturday, he will have a good week’s training in the build-up to next week”.
You can listen to Brian’s interview following the announcement of Tom Blair here.
Player To Watch: Omar Mussa
Our Man Of The Match from our previous game, Omar has demonstrated throughout this season his outstanding ability to control the midfield with his work on and off the ball. Against tough opposition this weekend, Omar could be called upon to help win the ball in midfield but also build play and create chances for his forward line.

THE SPIREITES
Chesterfield have enjoyed a strong start to the league campaign, with a firm eye on promotion this season. Last season, Chesterfield finished the season in 6th place but lost to Notts County 3-2 in the play-off eliminator. So far this season, Chesterfield have only tasted defeat once all season, when they lost 3-1 to Woking at the end of September. The Spireites are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions and have also secured a place in Round 2 of the FA Cup after beating Southend United last weekend by 3 goals to 1. They are also the league’s joint second highest goalscorers with 27 goals scored from 14 games.
Player To Watch: Kabongo Tshimanga
Kabongo Tshimanga is currently the league’s top scorer with 12 goals from 14 games, whilst also picking up the August/September National League Player of The Month award. It’s no secret that Kabongo could be a tough man to keep quiet on Saturday, with Chesterfield wanting to continue their current unbeaten run. The Terras defence will have to remain strong and use the positives from the back-to-back clean sheets to try and contain the Chesterfield attack on Saturday.
