Match Preview: Weymouth v Altrincham – Saturday 20th November 2021 – 15:00

Brian Stock’s side are back home at the Bob Lucas Stadium this Saturday afternoon as they take on Altrincham in the Vanarama National League.

THE TERRAS

A tough game last weekend for Weymouth as they were defeated 4-0 by now league leaders Chesterfield. Unfortunately, Ollie Harfield was suspended in that game and will be unavailable to play on Saturday as he serves his ban. However, with only one defeat in their previous four league matches, The Terras will be fully confident that they can come away with three points this weekend. Following the Chesterfield game, Stock said on this weekend’s clash: “It’s important that we build on our home form, we have a good squad with competition for places…we need to stick together, and we go again on Saturday”. It was good news for centre back Ben Morgan who made the starting lineup against Chesterfield as he returns from injury and could make his first home start since September. New signing Tom Blair could also be in line to make his first appearance for the Terras this weekend.

Player To Watch: Ben Thomson

With two goals in our previous four matches, Ben Thomson will be eyeing to further his tally, with The Terras likely to look to Thommo to provide some of his magic in front of goal to get back to winning ways in the league.

THE ROBINS

Altrincham will be looking for their first league win since October when they make the long trip south to the Bob Lucas Stadium this weekend. Currently, Altrincham have picked up six wins, two draws and six defeats in their opening fourteen games so far this season. Notable victories include a 3-1 win away to Torquay United on the opening day of the season, a 1-0 win over Notts County and also a 3-2 win away to Dagenham and Redbridge on the 2nd of October. Altrincham did make the FA Cup first round following a 3-2 win over Southport, however they were beaten by Gateshead in Round 1 by 3 goals to 2 in the replay following a 2-2 draw in the first match. In recent matches, Altrincham have picked up only two points from their last six league matches which will give the Robins extra motivation to try and claim some points this weekend, something that Brian Stock’s side will be prepared for, given Altrincham’s wins against top sides so far this season.

Player To Watch: Josh Hancock

With three goals in his previous four games in all competitions, Josh Hancock may prove to be the main dangerman in front of goal this weekend against the Terras. With goals against Gateshead, Boreham Wood and Woking recently and a goal against Dagenham and Redbridge in October, The Robins will look to Hancock to provide creativity and some clinical attacking play as Altrincham search for a first league win since a 2-0 win over Maidenhead United on the 9th of October.
