Weymouth U23 move to the top of the table following a hard fought 1-0 away win over Christchurch U23.

Frankie Monk’s strike was all that separated the two sides last night in a closely contested fixture, with Harrison Bruton making a fine save in the last minute to seal all three points, in the Hampshire Combination and Development League.

Brian Stock: “A very young U23s side competed very well in difficult conditions with the pitch against a very resolute Christchurch side. They worked hard to find a way to win the game, it came down to a very good individual piece of skill from a well worked corner for Frankie Monk to get on the scoresheet, which proved to be the winner.

But overall it was a battling display against a very tough and physical side. I’m really pleased with the team and there are lots of positives to take from the game.”

Weymouth U23s are next in action in the New Year when they take on Bashley U23s at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Wednesday 5th January 2022.
