Weymouth Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Keelan O’Connell, subject to FA and league approval!

23-year-old Keelan can play either as a winger or in an attacking midfield position and joins the squad ahead of our pre-season friendly with Frome Town tomorrow evening. O’Connell started his career in the youth setups of AFC Bournemouth. He was loaned to Scottish side Greenock Morton in January 2019, for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, and made 6 appearances. He returned to Bournemouth in May of that year and spent a couple of years in Bournemouth’s U21’s squad. Gary Johnson’s Torquay United then swooped for O’Connell last summer and he made 28 appearances for the Gulls in total last season in the National League.

David Oldfield: Welcome Keelan! We are looking to rebuild the playing group with good players and good people. We feel we have managed to do that with Keelan. He is another player full of potential and ability that has an opportunity to contribute to our aims in having a hard working and hungry group. We know the level we have to reach this season and Keelan will prove to be an important factor in our club moving forwards. We very much look forward to working with him.

Everyone at Weymouth Football Club would like to welcome Keelan to the team and wish him every success in a Terras shirt this season!
