Statman Duncan Gardner shares his latest edition of Facts of the Match ahead of this evening’s match against Chippenham Town.

Our recent match against our hosts marked a half-century of games over the Wiltshire outfit stretching back to 1930. Our last two encounters (this season and in 2019/20) both ended in the same way – a 1-0 win for our opponents, so we have to go back to 2017 to find our last victory over the Bluebirds – a 2-0 FA cup triumph in 2017.

Overall we can boast 27 victories to 15 against the Hardenhuish-Park-based-outfit with just the 8 draws. And even on their own turf, we have often been more fortuitous with 12 wins to 10 (including four draws) although the last win for is in Chippenham was back in 2014.

Avoiding defeat would mean three games unbeaten on the road for just the second time this season and we have the chance to secure three away clean sheets in succession for the first time since March 2019.

Many players have featured for both teams over the decades but the most famous and recent include Brad Ash, Harvey Bunker, Matt Buse, Dean Evans, Jason Matthews, Lee Phillips, George Rigg, Alefe Santos, Scott Walker & Tom Whelan.

In birthday news – Cam Murray, currently on loan for the Terras at Poole Town celebrates another year on this planet as does former player Steve Dyer.
