Weymouth in the Community is delighted to announce the introduction of three new schemes that launched last week in line with its continued development under the arm of Weymouth Football Club. These schemes are developed to continue the engagement and strengthen bonds within the community whilst providing a service that gives back to the town that provides so much to our football club.
The schemes are not linked with the current youth football system that is currently in place, these are indeed separate entities and will work as such as they move forward. However we encourage anyone who is part of a current youth team or aspires to be part of a time to join in on our development schemes.
It is important that we are clear with our goals and those partaking understand that these projects have been set up to build on the fantastic work that has already taken place under the guidance of our current community team lead, Andy Yates. They will not be routes into the football club as a player, nor be aimed at signing players from other youth teams in the area.
The schemes include: Multi-Sports After School Club (Thursdays 3-4). A club designed to provide additional extra care for children and families who may need that extra hour after the usual school closing time for work or other commitments. Those partaking will be able to enjoy team sports and develop their skills in important areas that aid further development.
After School Football Club (Tuesdays 3-4pm). This club will be taken by our qualified coaches, giving children the chance to compete with their class mates and learn important team work skills whilst developing their own skill set.
Football Development Centre (Thursday 5:30-7:30), our champion scheme will help continue development of players in a way that leads off their current team training. This is not a replacement of their current team, it is in addition to what they currently partake in. However it is not limited to those in a team. It will help provide a further in depth knowledge of the game and skills that can brand out past that of football. With our qualified coaches guiding their development process to assist and strengthen their on the pitch skills with their selective team.
We would like to extend our thanks to St.Andrews Primary School and Weymouth Rugby Club who have allowed us to use their facilities for these schemes.
We are excited to see the uptake in these schemes and the growth that will come off of them.
