Worthing Vs Weymouth
National League South, Woodside Road, Saturday 18th January, 15.00 GMT
Another weekend of football, Terras fans!
After our narrow loss at home to title-challengers Dorking Wanderers, which “took some quality from Rhys Murphy” to win the game for the Surrey side, our next league game sees us travel along the South Coast to Worthing, who sit in seventh-place.
Though we remain bottom, 17 places below “The Rebels,” it has not been all doom and gloom for us this week, as we booked our place in the Dorset Senior Cup Final after a comfortable 3-1 win versus Sturminster Newton United.
All of us at the club will be hoping that our players can take their “confidence” from Tuesday’s win into this afternoon against a formidable side, led by Chris Agutter, who are unbeaten in their last seven league games.

STRIKING BACK AGAINST THE REBELS
Having only faced “The Mackerel Men” six times, this is hardly a contest full of historical hatred.
However, with the Sussex side’s four wins compared to our one, alongside the sole draw, bragging rights may not be handed in our favour.
The last time we faced each other was the one time we shared points, Charlie Rowan’s 25-yard free-kick was enough to cancel out Danny Cashman’s “spectacular hit” which had initially put us a goal behind.
Whilst any points may benefit us, given our position, any against The Rebels can be considered an achievement after their recent run of results.
Though Agutter dubbed his side’s supposed “lack of inconsistency” to be “annoying” after their exit from the Sussex Senior Cup just 11 days ago, his side have remained unbeaten in their last seven league games.
A run that includes four league wins, by the way.
The Rebels’ current form is impressive enough to see just three teams above them over the past six league games.
Though four teams have scored more in that timeframe, only two teams have conceded less, one being second-place Maidstone United.
After Cashman’s strike against us earlier this season, it may be of little surprise to hear that he is leading the goalscoring charts for today’s opponents, his 10 in the league being just six off Boreham Wood’s Kwesi Appiah.
But despite The Rebels’ holding fort at both boxes, our empire could strike back this afternoon.
Our two goals against Dorking was the third time in the league this season where we had managed to score more than one goal within a game, and the second time in just over two weeks.
In fact, all of these three occasions have come against title-challengers.
Perhaps this is an example of why Warren believes that we “seem to do better against the bigger teams.”
Whilst Worthing are certainly one of those, this afternoon they will be facing a Weymouth side who “are scoring goals.”
