Truro City Vs Weymouth
National League South, Truro City Stadium, Tuesday 25 February, 7.45PM
Does the football calendar ever stop, Terras fans?
Just three days after our impressive 4-1 win at home to Aveley, we are on the road to Cornwall to take on fifth-place Truro City.
Tonight’s opponents, led by John Askey, have returned to form of late, winning three of their last four matches.
After thrashing us 4-1, The Tinners then won just once in their next 10 league contests.
But despite their slump they remain 19 places and twice as many points above us.
Still, as Jason Matthews said, we mustn’t give up.

PREVIOUS RESULTS…
With this fixture being played only 11 times, this is a contest not yet rich in history or rivalry.
But yet The Tinners’ six wins versus our three is still enough to give tonight’s hosts the upper hand.
Our last victory versus the Cornwall outfit came in November 2023, when Calvin Brooks doubled our lead in Dorset after an own-goal initially gave us the lead.
We remained unbeaten against The Tinners that season with a 0-0 draw at their “ground’ (Gloucester City’s Meadow Park) the following April.
But worryingly, none of our wins have come on the road, with one draw and three losses in four games.
Askey’s side will take even more comfort from the last time these two sides faced each other, a result which saw us lose a match, a player and a manager.
They led for nearly the entirety of the game after Jaze Kabia opened the scoring inside six minutes.
Their dominance only grew further when long-term talisman Tyler Harvey scored a hat-trick to well and truly seal the points for Askey’s side.
We did manage to get one back with just over 15 minutes of regular time remaining when Jake McCarthy scored his first for us since his return, but were undone once more barely a minute later when Charlie Rowan was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Our misfortunes were also further heightened earlier in the game when both Jordan Maguire-Drew and Ben Greenwood appeared to be forced off with injury setbacks.
Put simply, anything that could have gone wrong for us on Tuesday did.
To cap it all off, club hero Mark Molesley was unfortunately relieved of his duties later that week.
SINCE THEN…
The Tinners, in truth, were initially a little rusty.
Second in the table, with the joint-second most wins, joint-third least goals conceded and fifth-most goals scored, before they thrashed us 4-1 on our home turf, they won just once in their next 10 league games.
But since then something has clicked; beginning with a 3-1 win away to Hampton & Richmond Borough, Askey’s side have won three times in their last four, drawing the other match.
This recent form has kept them in the play-off places, in fifth and just six points off table-toppers Dorking Wanderers, with two games in hand on the Surrey side.
It’s hardly a surprise that Matthews referred to tonight’s contest as a tough game.
