Josh Barton talks to Tom McHale as the fans favourite makes his move back to the Terras after a spell in Scotland.
Josh Barton: Are you excited about getting back out on the pitch with the Terras?
Tom McHale: Of course! I really enjoyed my time here a few years ago and when the opportunity arose to come back again, I couldn’t turn it down. I know what direction the club want to go in and it’s a very exciting opportunity!
JB: Fantastic! You’ve obviously been up in Scotland with Elgin City. What have been your standout moments with them?
TM: It’s been an indifferent 6 months. My highlight would definitely playing Hibernian at Easter Road, although we lost the game we were pleased with the performance everyone put in!
JB: That must have been a good experience! You mentioned your time at the club previously. You quickly became a fans favourite. Are you looking forward to seeing a few old faces again?
TM: Yes I’ve been really looking forward to it ever since I heard of the interest. The fans and all the people behind the scenes were brilliant with me and I hope I can repay them for everything they’ve done for me!
JB: People will love hearing that! Do you feel as though the club has the foundations in place to move up the leagues?
TM: Yeah for sure. The way the club has progressed in the past few years has been so impressive. Now it’s all about going the one step further which I’m sure the club is more than capable of. It’s an exciting time to be involved with!
JB: Brilliant! Are you looking forward to some slightly warmer weather down south?
TM: Haha! You could say that! To be honest we’ve only had snow up there for the past few weeks so I’ve not been too cold, but yes I’m looking forward to the warmer weather!😅
JB: Lastly, tough one to answer but do you have any personal targets from now until the end of the season?
TM: Yes there’s a few I’m gonna keep to myself, but the one I think everyone’s looking at is a positive league finish!
