WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley says his side are the masters of their own destiny after their 4-0 win over Staines Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.
However, Molesley says his side have not won anything yet, after the Terras’ second consecutive 4-0 win with Brandon Goodship netting all four.
When asked if he feels like his side have got one hand on the title, Molesley told Echosport: “No, not at all. We have not done anything yet.
“Four games to go, we have chalked another one off all we have done is what we can do. But now we are masters of our own destiny, we are in control of our fate and we can get our hands on that trophy but we certainly have not got hands on it yet.
“There is a lot of hard work and a lot of tough games coming up and we will not change our focus or our way of thinking.”
The form book prior to the game read heavily in Weymouth’s favour, with the Swans having just one win in their last 23 games prior to Saturday.
Weymouth on the other hand are now on a run of nine wins and one draw in their last 10 matches.
Yet Molesley says it almost felt like added pressure for his Weymouth side.
When asked if he was pleased to avoid a potential banana skin, Molesley replied: “Yeah definitely. (I am) always quite anxious coming up to this game, because the Met Police game, things like that they almost take care of themselves.
“These games you cannot take your eye off the prize, you need to make sure you are fully focused because they are a good, young side with nothing to lose.
“If we win everyone just expects it.
“So it is added pressure on us.”
Reflecting upon the seven-day spell, which saw Weymouth beat Hartley Wintney 3-0 on the previous Saturday, before 4-0 wins against the Met Police and Staines, Molesley said he could not argue.
Molesley said: “After a tough week, I thought the boys handled it well. Yes, from our own high standards we should have been a bit more clinical. We created, I think, 18 chances, nine on target, nine off target.
“It could have been a little bit more emphatic with that.
“I can’t argue, we are coming off the back of a week where we have won 3-0, 4-0, 4-0 I cannot have any complaints for the boys.
“We can rest them up this week, get a good training session in, get some good rest into them and prepare for the next game.”
Molesley was emphatic about what his side want when discussing his side’s current goal difference.
Molesley said: “It is an added bonus. We are always looking to keep clean sheets, as many as we can and try and score as many goals, that is the aim of football.
“We want to outperform every team in this league. I want to have more clean sheets, I want to have more shut outs.
“I want to have more goals, that is the way we are in this group. We want to be the best we can be, we want to continue to keep improving.”
Weymouth travel to Beaconsfield Town on Saturday (3pm).
If the Terras win, the Met Police lose at Swindon Supermarine and Taunton Town do not beat Kings Langley at home then the Terras will be crowned champions.
