WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley insists there is “no time for disappointment” as the Terras trek to Welling in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow (3pm).
Molesley’s injury-hit troops were beaten 1-0 by league favourites Havant & Waterlooville on New Year’s Day, handing a fourth loss in five games to the Terras.
However, former Bournemouth midfielder Molesley is “ready to react” against struggling Welling, who were beaten play-off finalists last season.
The Wings have found the going tough in the current campaign, their position of 19th with four league losses in five reflecting the ultra-competitive nature of England’s sixth tier.
Speaking to Echosport ahead of the trip to south-east London, Molesley said: “We’ve got no time for disappointment, we’ve got to learn the lessons, move on and continually strive to improve.
“We’ve got a very tough away game at Welling, they’re well established in the league with an experienced team.
“They haven’t had great results lately, so they’re another team that’s going to be fighting for their lives, making it very difficult.
“We’ve got to dust ourselves down and make sure we’re ready to react.”
He added: “There’s no easy game, they’re at the bottom and Welling have been in the play-offs last year, so they know this league.
“They’ve got good players who’ve been proven (at this level) and they’re going to be fighting tooth and nail.
“We’ve got to match that and what they throw at us, and throw our game onto them as well.”
Weymouth beat the 10 men of Welling 1-0 in the reverse fixture – a contest that provides an indicator of the task awaiting Molesley’s men.
“They made it really difficult when they went down to 10 men,” Molesley recalled.
“They defended very well but I thought we created a lot of chances. If anything, that’s a big area for improvement.
“We need to be a bit more lethal when we’re on top of these games, because we have good spells of possession, get in and around the box quite a lot, but we need to be more ruthless in front of goal.”
Bournemouth will assess loanee keeper Calum Ward after the gloveman picked up a slight quadricep strain in the warm-up against Havant.
Andy Robinson’s ankle injury continues to be monitored, while Calvin Brooks is doubtful with an ankle issue.
Cameron Murray’s workload continues to be managed amid ongoing shin and ankle complaints, but Jack Hoey (arm) is out despite returning to running work.
