NEW Terras’ head coach Tom Prodomo is excited about the challenges that lie ahead as part of the Weymouth backroom staff.
The former Bashley manager made the move from the New Forest club to become part of Mark Molesley’s coaching structure, alongside brother Joe, who is set to come in as first-team goalkeeping coach.
And, with coaching plans already being put in place at the Bob Lucas Stadium next term, Tom Prodomo insists he is looking forward to making an impact.
He told Echosport: “I am delighted to accept the position and excited to get started.
“In terms of the boss, he is a fantastically knowledgeable guy but he is also a very passionate guy.
“I think he enthuses people with the knowledge and experience he has got.
“We have had a good relationship for a couple of years and had some good conversations about football. One he was appointed I got a phone call asking if I’d like to come down for a chat and it all happened pretty quickly from there.
“Probably, if I’m honest, this was the only opportunity that would have taken me away (from Bashley) at this stage.
“The size of the club Weymouth is, the fantastic fan base it has, and the opportunity to work with the staff and the chairman, it was an opportunity I felt that I couldn’t turn down.”
He added: “Being involved in a club like Weymouth with the staff and the players is a massive privilege but just being involved is not the objective. Being successful is what we want to do.
“I think it’s going to be really important that we shift our focus to preparation and don’t think that everything just happens at three o’clock on a Saturday.
“It’s going to be my job as well as the rest of the staff to transmit that work ethic to the players and give the fans something to be proud of.”
Head coach Prodomo has boasts an impressive CV on his arrival to the Bob Lucas Stadium, having worked at the likes of AFC Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion and Exeter City.
Currently the head of football at Brockenhurst College as well as working on the staff of the England Colleges FA, Prodomo is well prepared to help drive the Terras forward on the training ground.
“The head coaching role is something I’m really looking forward to,” he said.
“It’s all the things that I am passionate about doing and working hard to do, in terms of preparing the team for games on the training field, and also feeding back to them about their performances.
“We are all in it together and we are all excited.
“With any kind of change there will be an excitement around the place and also one or two questions.
“We are firm in our beliefs and our confident in our methods with what we are looking to do and what we will do over the coming months.”
