JASON Matthews was left to ponder his side’s derby day defeat and admitted yesterday’s loss at the Avenue hurt.
The Weymouth boss could do nothing to stop opposing player-manager Mark Jermyn hitting a blistering winner in the second half to seal the game for the Magpies.
Reflecting on Weymouth’s reverse, Matthews believed his side should have got more from the encounter.
“I feel that a draw would have been a fair result but a little bit of desire from Jem has won them the game,” he told Echosport.
“I didn’t feel that we got our passing game going and that was probably our biggest downfall.
“Defensively we looked solid but we probably lacked a little bit of width.”
He added: “We have lost the derby and I know it means a lot to a lot of people. I am hurting as much as they are, I can assure you. We just need to move on to Histon on Saturday and put it right.”
Speaking about Jermyn’s winner, the Terras keeper added: “It came through a crowd of players and was a good strike but people need to be on their toes on the edge of the box.

“They (Dorchester) were exactly how I thought they would be and their team typifies Mark Jermyn as a person.”
Meanwhile, Weymouth will be holding a fans’ forum after Saturday’s game against Histon (6pm). The club’s AGM has also been set for Friday, September 25 (8pm).
