JASON Matthews is looking for the Terras to get off to a flyer in their first home league game of the campaign tonight (7.45pm), when Chippenham Town visit the Bob Lucas Stadium.
The Weymouth player-manager, boosted by beating Biggleswade Town 3-1 away on the opening day of the season, is expecting a difficult challenge against the Bluebirds, who drew 1-1 with Kings Langley on the opening day.
One of the key threats the visitors possess, outlined by the Terras’ boss, is their firepower up front as strikers Andy Sandell, who scored on the opening day, and David Pratt could line-up against his side this evening.
“Chippenham have strengthened their squad massively and still have the league’s top scorer in Andy Sandell from last year,” Matthews said.
“They have added David Pratt from Bath, who is a much sought-after striker.
“He never gives defenders a minute’s peace so it will be incredibly tough.
“But it will be nice to pit our wits against them. It gets one of the top sides out the way and I feel the next two home games we have are pretty big, with teams that will be in the shake-up.”
He added: “There are no easy games early season and we will have to go about our business.
“We have just scratched the surface so far by getting ourselves off to a good start but it is important that we carry that on.”
Weymouth are expected to add more firepower to their own ranks by having striker Ben Thomson back available this evening, while full-back Ashley Wells remains out with a knee injury.
