WEYMOUTH striker Harry Baker is unconcerned by the arrivals of fellow forwards Tony Lee and Warren Bentley to the club.
Baker, who scored 19 goals for the Terras last term, feels the introduction of the new strike duo will benefit the team.
Weymouth’s new forwards will vie with established marksmen Ben Thomson, Baker and 2017/18 golden boot winner Brandon Goodship for a place in the Terras’ starting line-up in the renamed Southern League South this season.
Baker told Echosport: “It’s going to improve us as a team, they’re two quality strikers so there’s going to be competition for places.
“They’re really nice lads and they’ve settled in well. If it’s going to give us a better chance of success I’m all for it.”
On his own chances of selection for a more frequent starting berth, Baker added: “I scored some goals last year but it’s the hardest step this year.
“Hopefully if I get the time on the pitch I’ll do it again – there’s no reason why I shouldn’t.”
With Weymouth’s pre-season exploits well underway, the latest fixture being a home clash with Kingstonian today (3pm), Baker is impressed with the Terras’ squad thus far.
He said: “Everyone seems to be looking sharp, we’ve had four or five sessions now.
“Everyone’s got to dig in at pre-season, some people don’t like it, some people do but I quite enjoy it.
“It’s just about hard work and getting ready for the season, everyone’s in the same kind of boat. I’m feeling okay, just trying to get fitter and see if I can get the opportunity for more minutes this season.”
