Howe 35, Georgiou 90+4 pen

WEYMOUTH were held to a dramatic draw 2-2 draw at home against Kings Langley, with Andronicos Georgiou firing in late on to equalise for the visitors in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Goals from Calvin Brooks and Brandon Goodship overhauled the 35th minute goal from Jermaine Howe and seemed to be handing the Terras a vital win before the late penalty.

Prior to the match, the Terras were able to announce the signing of Chris Lewington, who has recently been with National League outfit Dover Athletic.

Alongside Cameron Murray, Lewington also made his debut against Kings Langley.

Weymouth made four changes to the squad that started the 3-1 defeat to Ramsbottom United, as Lewington, Tiago Sa, Stephane Zubar and Murray came in for Lloyd Thomas, Callum Buckley, Jordan Ngalo and Sam Sherring.

The match started in a difficult fashion for the Terras, with an already weakened defence suffered yet another injury, as Sa had to be replaced by Ngalo after 20 minutes.

Weymouth probably should have taken the lead after six minutes.

Yemi Odubade did well to earn a corner off Charley O’Keefe, which was swung in and caused a scramble in the box as Weymouth could not fashion a clinical touch to take it into the back of the net.

Murray almost had a dream start to his Weymouth career six minutes later.

A lovely, and lengthy, move forward found Murray cutting into the box centrally, but his shot was straight at Langley goalkeeper Alex Tokarczyk.

Signs of what was to come were there from Langley at this stage however.

Langley had two free-kicks in quick succession and, while the first was wasted, the second saw Lewington palm a Georgiou shot almost directly into the path of Jorell Johnson, who could have opened the scoring.

Langley took the lead in the 35th minute through Howe, who headed in after Mitchell Weiss crossed a great ball into the Terras’ box.

Weymouth almost had an instant reply through Josh Wakefield, who slammed a shot wide of the post.

Yet it was Langley who had the better of the chances for the rest of the half.

Georgiou should have made it two when a lovely one-two saw him released on goal, but Lewington saved magnificently.

Howe was again released centrally but his shot from distance was hit wide.

Goodship then tried to get a shot away, running up centrally on the edge of the box, but forward Mitchell Weiss took a touch to deprive the Terras’ striker.

The two teams went in at the break with the Lango ahead, but Weymouth started the second half brightly.

Within four minutes, Brooks had levelled when he slotted low and to the right of Tokarczyk after great work from Odubade and Murray.

Tokarczyk then had to be alert to claim the ball off the feet of Ben Thomson, before substitute Abdulai Baggie fired over after a good cross from Brooks.

Lewington still had to be alert however, as Georgiou whipped in a wonderful shot that was seemingly destined for the far-top corner of the goal, but the Weymouth goalkeeper stopped it.

Yet Weymouth would turn it around in the end and the crucial goal came in the 67th minute.

Brooks turned provider, as he crossed in only for the ball to be pushed out towards Goodship, who volleyed in to hand the Terras a vital lead.

Goodship then went hunting his second and good work from Odubade allowed him a shot just inside the Lango box, but he fired well over the bar.

At this stage Weymouth were becoming dominant and looking a very slick and proficient attacking outfit, while unable to add further to their tally.

However, disaster struck when Brooks fouled Claudio Ofosu to hand the Lango a penalty.

Georgiou fired in late from the spot shortly after to hold Weymouth to a draw.

This riled Weymouth and after a high knee from Wakefield into the back of a player, a ruckus ensued which saw five players – Wakefield, Goodship, Zubar, Johnson and Howe – yellow carded.

Weymouth travel to Hendon on Tuesday, for the first of three consecutive away games (7.45pm).
