JUBILANT Jason Matthews was full of praise for the way his side dealt with a tricky FA Trophy second qualifying round tie at Bedford on Saturday, hailing his team’s attitude during their 4-1 away triumph.
The Terras put their name in the hat for the third qualifying stage of the competition thanks to goals from Stewart Yetton (2), Adam Kelly and Chris Shephard.
Giving his view on the victory over the Eagles, player-manager Matthews told Echosport: “It was a good win and a professional performance.
“I was really delighted with the lads’ attitude and the way we went about the game, given it was a tricky tie on a heavy surface.
“We dictated the game, took the game to Bedford as they were playing a very attacking formation.
“You could probably say at times they had four right up top and they were very attacking against us.
“There was a little five-minute spell which led to our own downfall where we got a little too confident with our passing and a couple got caught out.
“Other than that it was another superb away performance and the two goals late on in the first half probably sealed the tie.
“I felt we thoroughly deserved the result.”
And while league ambitions remain the Terras’ player-manager’s main focus, he sees no reason why the club can’t go a long way in the Trophy this term.

He added: “That’s around £6,000 in prize money so far which covers the shortfall from the FA Cup but it’s not about the money.
“For me, I would love to get to Wembley and this is the most realistic chance we have got of going.”
