MARK Cooper insists he is “constantly buzzing” to be part of the Weymouth dressing room.
The former Frome Town full-back, who was snapped up by Terras’ boss Jason Matthews in June, also insists the current squad have more to give in their quest for promotion this term.
Cooper has been part of a Weymouth backfour to have only conceded six league goals in 13 outings so far — the best defensive record in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.
And, having also netted his first goal for the club against Hungerford last month, the defender has enjoyed a dream start to life at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
He told Echosport: “I am constantly buzzing really. It is just good to be part of a winning dressing room.
“We are flying at the moment and, whoever we are playing, we are confident that we are going to win the three points.
“We are obviously doing quite well defensively which is the bread and butter for me.
“I think we still have more in the tank to give as well.”
While Cooper is delighted by the start the Terras have made to the campaign, he also revealed a number of other clubs were after his signature as well as Weymouth.
He said: “I was on a contract last year and I sort of tied myself down to it.
“I knew that people would come calling and, as soon as my contract ended, I had four managers ring me and text me that day.
“I knew Jase and he said he had watched me quite a few times. I had an inkling he would come back calling, as soon as he said he wanted to sign me he came up and met me and that was it.
“He is a winner, I’m a winner, I want to try and achieve as much as I can in my career. I am still quite young and hungry so hopefully, come the end of the season, we will have a promotion on our CV.
He added: “Weymouth is run like a professional club. We go in, everything is there, your boots are all clean and you get treated like royalty compared to some clubs at this level.”
