JASON Matthews believes “now is the time to kick on” if the Terras are to secure themselves a play-off spot this term.
Buoyed by their 4-1 victory over a youthful Histon side on Saturday, Weymouth welcome Cambridge City to the Bob Lucas Stadium in search of back-to-back league wins this evening (7.45pm).
Despite the Lilywhites sitting 17th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table following their reverse at Dorchester on Saturday, Matthews is taking nothing for granted and is eager for his side to back up their impressive weekend performance.
“It’s time for us to stop the talking and start the doing,” he told Echosport.
“It was a great win away from home at Histon and I know Cambridge had an indifferent result at Dorchester.
“They will be keen to arrest that and we will be keen to kick on now. Now is the time to kick on at home.
“It’s definitely the business end of the season and it is now crucial that we start putting a run together with two massive home games in Cambridge and Kettering.
“It’s up to us now. If we can play like we did on Saturday on a regular basis, I have no doubts that we will make the play-offs.
“It will be nice to come home and have the positive surroundings, hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about.
“We need to look at ourselves and get ourselves on a nice little run again.“ Loan striker Sam Surridge is set to come back into the Terras’ squad ahead of the encounter.
The last time the two sides met was on the opening day of the season, Duran Reynolds was on target to give City a 1-0 win.
