JASON Matthews is tipping influential centre-half Pat Baldwin to have a big impact on the Terras’ run-in, insisting “he could be the experience that we need to see us through”.
A knee injury meant Baldwin lost his place in the Weymouth starting XI in recent weeks.
But the former Colchester and Exeter City man could be in line for a recall to the side at King’s Lynn tomorrow (3pm), after Jake Wannell picked up a hamstring injury in Weymouth’s 1-0 win over Leamingon last time out.
Speaking about Baldwin, who replaced Wannell late on in midweek, Matthews told Echosport: “Pat is a good character in the dressing room and is someone I am really pleased to have signed.
“He has brought a lot to the table off the pitch, as well as on it, and he could be the experience that we need to see us through.
“He was frustrated when his knee flared up a couple of weeks ago and he has to bounce back now. I have no qualms in putting him in and I know he will do the job.”
As well as Wannell, Dean Evans is also set to miss out on the encounter against ninth-placed Lynn through suspension.
The Terras are also leaving no stone unturned in a bid to get the three points and aid their play-off push this weekend.
They have been put up in a room overnight this evening to avoid the lengthy trip to King’s Lynn on tomorrow, as well as training at Stevenage ahead of the clash.
“It gives us every chance to have the right preparation,” Matthews added.
“We have put ourselves back in it with a great performance against Leamington and we need to go and follow it up by getting at least something at King’s Lynn.
“We will be going there to win, there is no doubt about it and we don’t play any other way.”
The Terras currently sit three points outside of the top five with just four league games remaining. The last time the two sides met, goals from Jordan Copp and Stewart Yetton gave Weymouth a 2-0 win at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
