WEYMOUTH RES 5
US PORTSMOUTH 2
WEYMOUTH Reserves’ boss Bradley Asagba has said his side are as strong as anybody in the league following their 5-2 victory over United Services Portsmouth on Wednesday night.
The Terras secured an emphatic victory with goals coming from Conor Jevon (3), Dom Panesar-Dower and Sanchez Baker, and the manager was delighted with their contribution.
He said: “They’re massive for us. I’ve been saying since day one that if we get those three together we’ll be a handful.
“The nature of our side is that we’re a reserve team, so when they play well they get called up to the first team. It means that we’re not able to bank on them being available week in, week out, but when they are playing together there’s a relationship forming between the three of them and they’re a handful at this level and levels above.
“Sean Stewart is another one, we’ve missed him at various times throughout the season through suspension, but since he’s come back in he has been sensational, and generally when he plays well we win. If you combine the fact that he’s coming back into the team with others returning like Craig Michie and Tiago Sa, I believe we are as strong as anybody in the league when we have our best players available.”
The manager also spoke of his pleasure at a comfortable victory. He said: “I was delighted we were able to do the job, and irrespective of where they are in the league it brings us closer to them and to where we want to be.”
