As the 2016-2017 has drawn to a close, Weymouth Football Club board would like to thank our loyal supporters for their support during which has been a disappointing and frustrating season.
We also thank our sponsors for their fantastic support during the season; may this continue in the future.
We would like to also acknowledge the unbelievable efforts some of our supporters have made in keeping the club running smoothly.
In no particular order we would like to pay tribute to the pitch team of Paul, Kev, Tom and Mike who spend countless hours tending the pitch. This effort was typified yesterday when the pitch looked like it had been hardly played on since July. Even more incredible is that they are volunteers. Thanks guys you are fantastic.
Next, thanks to Brian and Merv and the Back of the Bus Guys and Girls for not only getting the team to games but also provide a valuable service to supporters in getting them to away games. The away travel costs the clubs nothing thanks to monthly bingo’s, match day meat draws and on board raffles. Please keep supporting these fantastic people again next season. Brian and his colleagues who have helped the football club by saving £23000 on travel costs this season.
We would also like to thank Mark Probin for his efforts over many years before stepping down during the season. Not only did he run the fantastic club website but also spent countless hours helping promote the club and spent many hours during the summer making sure the ground was spick and span prior to the new season. People did not realise what he did until he was no longer there! We also miss the home match day videos and hope we can restart these next year. Our thanks also go out to Josh Barton, Ryan Asman and their team who have taken the challenge of running the club website and social media. Thanks for your impressive efforts and we look forward to your new innovations next year.
The Reserve and “A” teams are also run by volunteers so thanks go to Ray, Hilary and Graham Cole for all their efforts plus the sponsors that enable all the players to represent the club.
There are so many that keep our wonderful club running smoothly. As you know there are far too few of us but if you can spare any time even a couple of hours then please help whenever you can.
As discussed Saturday evening at the fans forum we face a lot of challenges next season reaching out to our local community.
Thank you to each and every one that has contributed and apologies if we have not mentioned you individually.
