WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley feels “there’s more to come” from his players as they prepare to meet Tiverton Town away in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier tonight (7.45pm).
The Terras defeated former leaders Kettering 3-1 at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday but face a testing assignment at Ladysmead, with Tiverton on the same amount of points as Weymouth after six games.
Molesley told Echosport: “It’s early days yet. At the moment things are going OK. I still feel there’s more to come. We’ve got to keep showing improvements and the games keep coming thick and fast.
“Anyone who thinks that we’ve had a good victory (against Kettering) and that we’re going to be alright is kidding themselves because every game is a different challenge and it’s difficult.
“Tiverton have had similar results to us, they’re another team up there and they won again so they’re on exactly the same points as us. They’ll be in the same form, same confidence and it’s notoriously one of the toughest places to go up there.
“I’m sure if we concentrate and work on what we’re doing I think we can give anyone a game.”
And Molesley is pleased that the players’ hard work on the training field is beginning to bear fruits.
“The lads have shown that they’ve been up for every game. They’ve had a couple of frustrating performances at home before the Kettering game and we put that right.
“We’ve just got to keep going, keep working hard and show the same attitude.
“We work hard during the week to try and improve the players and I think we’re slowly ticking along but all it is is a win, we’re never too high after a win and we try not to get too low after a loss as well.
“The win’s good, you can enjoy your Saturday but then straight away our attention turns to the tough challenge of Tiverton,” he said.
Molesley was also pleased that the Terras showed their “grittier” side during the win over Kettering.
He said: “They went a lot more direct, I don’t think they played through us, it was direct balls with the wind and they’re a force up there. They’ve got some good players so to stand up to that was very pleasing to show that grittier side and our organisation was very good.
“Having said that, although their pressure was from longer balls, on the flip side I think we created more chances in the second half where we were unlucky that their goalkeeper was by far the busier and we could have scored a few more.”
