THIAGO Caze Da Silva gave Weymouth the lead inside three minutes of his first start for the club against Biggleswade Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, earning deserved plaudits from the Terras’ boss Mark Molesley.
He played the whole match as the Terras earned a superb 2-1 victory to provide the perfect reaction to a 2-0 loss against Hereford in their previous match.
Molesley praised his new signing as he told Echosport: “It was a great game for him the desire and the commitment that he has shown to get his goal.
“He carried that on for the rest of the game I thought he hardly put a foot wrong and in tough conditions you need people to be standing up and be counted and he certainly was that on Saturday, he attacked, he won a lot in the air and the boy can play as well.”
His first appearance, against Hereford, saw him come on for Brandon Goodship in the 77th minute after his signing was announced earlier on the day of the match.
A postponement due to freezing weather saw him have an extra week after his debut to settle into the squad and Mark Molesley was happy with how Caze Da Silva linked up with his teammates in defence against the Waders.
Molesley said: “I think he capped off a great display with a goal. I thought equally that Ash and Zubes marshalled the defence really well on Saturday so I was really pleased with that, with them as a unit.”
Caze Da Silva’s next chance to appear for the Terras will be in the match at home to Dunstable on Saturday (3pm).
